Aurum et thus

I've been in Japan in 2013 and I've been amazed. It has never been a destination on the top of my wishes, but I don't know to say the reason... I really love the landscapes and when I travel I'm always looking for places that give me a 30% of culture/leisure/social life/history, and a good 70% of nature/landscapes/peace. I would say that Japan has a large 80% of culture and history, but I hope one day to come back to see that part of nature and beautiful landscapes that are hidden in the most remote places.

This in Japan has been an unexpected trip, that made me discover a world and a society totally different from ours; a trip that amazed and enchanted me; but it also made me think about the diversity and how we should look at the qualities of each nation and not only speak ill of their flaws. And it is exactly the kind of experience that I look for in a trip.

This in the picture is a well known place, a symbol, and I was very lucky to see it in a special moment. This is the Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a Buddhist temple located in the oldest part of Kyoto, it is on top of a hill from which you can see the whole city. It was raining when I arrived there and the temple was about to close. At one point the rain stopped and the sky showed its most beautiful colors. It was just before sunset, the so-called "golden hour", and there was a religious silence because all the tourists had left. I remember the golden light that turned everything into something precious and that delicate aroma of incense that permeate all temples of Japan. Gold and incense, is my memory imprinted on this picture.

I can say... come here, because in this place the time stands still and you can finally slow down and breathe the past.

Sono stata in Giappone nel 2013 e ne sono rimasta folgorata. Non era una meta in cima alla lista dei miei desideri, ma onestamente non saprei dire il motivo... Io amo molto i paesaggi e quando viaggio cerco sempre luoghi che mi diano un 30% di cultura/svago/mondanità/storia e un buon 70% di natura/paesaggi/pace. Direi che in Giappone c'è stato invece un largo 80% di cultura e storia, ma spero un giorno di poter tornare per vedere quella parte di natura e paesaggi meravigliosi che si celano nei luoghi più remoti. 

Quello in Giappone è stato un viaggio sorprendente, che mi ha fatto scoprire un mondo e una società totalmente diversa dalla nostra, quella occidentale; che mi ha stupita e incantata; ma che mi ha fatto anche ragionare sulle diversità e su come dovremmo cogliere i pregi di ogni nazione e non sparlare solo dei difetti. E' esattamente quel tipo di esperienza che cerco in un viaggio. 

Quello nella foto è un luogo molto conosciuto, un simbolo, ed ho avuto la fortuna di viverlo in un momento speciale. Si tratta del Kiyomizu-dera, un tempio buddista che si trova nella zona più antica di Kyoto, in cima ad una collina da cui si può vedere tutta la città. Pioveva a dirotto quando sono arrivata lì e il tempio stava per chiudere. Ad un certo punto ha smesso di piovere ed il cielo ha mostrato tutti i suoi colori più belli. Era poco prima del tramonto, la cosiddetta "golden hour" e c'era un silenzio religioso visto che ormai tutti i turisti erano andati via. Ricordo quella luce dorata che trasformava tutto in qualcosa di prezioso e quel delicato profumo di incenso che permeava sempre i templi del Giappone. Oro e incenso, è il mio ricordo impresso su questa foto.
Che posso dire... veniteci, perché in questo luogo il tempo si è fermato e voi potrete finalmente rallentare e respirare il passato.
